2012 Fisker Karma

The Karma debuted last night, driven by Kutcher's character, Walden Schmidt. Depending on the amount of screentime the Karma receives, that could generate huge awareness for the new vehicle.

Fisker will likely also benefit from the public's generally positive perception of Kutcher. While his character may share some similarities with its predecessor, off-camera, Kutcher's persona is miles away from Sheen's.

The Karma is a hybrid, so it packs a gas engine, too. But unlike a Chevy Volt, the Fisker’s gas engine never directly powers the wheels. It also makes the car more efficient, creating energy to regulate the interior climate-control systems.

Driving Character: Forward progress comes in two distinct flavors—Stealth and Sport.

The car weighs about 5000 pounds and rides on a long 124-inch wheelbase and 22-inch wheels.

Driver’s Grievance: Sport mode sounds like a jarring duet between a vacuum cleaner and a buzzy four-cylinder engine. Fisker engineers, however, said that noise fixes are in the works.

Bottom Line: The Fisker Karma is a standout luxury and performance vehicle, period. Henrik Fisker designed an arresting sedan with bulging Vette-like fenders, Batmobile stretch, and a sumptuous, ergonomically sound, supremely comfortable cabin.

From the California automaker Fisker Automotive comes the Fisker Karma, the world's first true Electric Vehicle with extended range (EVer™) and a radical expression of what is possible in the automotive world.

The Fisker Karma's total range between recharge/refuel can reach 300 miles.

The Karma is Fisker Automotive's first car. The Fisker Karma and all future Fisker vehicles will be sold and serviced through a global network of established, reputable, independent retailers. Significantly, the Fisker Karma is the first American-designed and engineered luxury vehicle specifically developed to appeal to world markets. The Fisker Karma is the first and only true production Electric Vehicle with extended range (EVer™).

Two Driving Modes

A single pull on the Fisker Karma's left-hand steering wheel paddle engages Sport mode. Because of the electric motors' torque characteristics, the Fisker Karma will feel even quicker.
The Fisker Karma also features a fully-blended regenerative braking system. Fisker Automotive's engineering team designed the Karma's space frame around the car's unique EVer™ powertrain, filing for multiple patents in the process.

As a result, the
Fisker Karma drives more like a midsize sport sedan than a full-size luxury sedan. The Fisker Karma's elegant and striking exterior design incorporates the dramatic proportion that is signature Fisker style. Fisker Automotive's Sustainable and Accountable Design™ philosophy is apparent throughout the Fisker Karma's cabin, exemplified by the use of reclaimed, recycled and reusable materials.

Fisker designers took inspiration from both nature and classic sports cars to craft the Karma's interior.
