Mercedes M Class Recall

“We only think an SUV makes sense with some off-road ability!” I have scrawled in my notes from the press conference at the Mercedes M Class Recall launch last week.

OK, you need the optional On&Offroad Package that has the four-stage air suspension system, low-range gearbox and central differential lock. Now, an off-road course is a common part of any launch of a car with any degree of off-road pretension.
Water was waded. Seriously loose and rocky cliffs ascended.

Apparently just 10% of previous shape
Mercedes M Class Recall were chosen with the off-road package.
I guess it’s no less pointless than supercar manufacturers engineering in 250mph top speeds and 7min Nordschleife lapping ability into cars that rarely divert off the King’s Road.

Cruise control could only be disengaged by putting transmission into neutral and depressing brake. NHTSA explained that there are several ways to disengage the cruise control on these vehicles, including tapping the brake pedal, using the cruise control stalk or "braking the vehicle enough to reach a certain rate of deceleration."

Mercedes M Class Recall dealers will replace the brake lamp switch "to remediate the potential need for excessive brake pedal force to disengage the cruise control," said the automaker. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372
